Lately

I had been very lazy during the last few days. I finished sewing some projects, but have not iron them or taken any pictures. Lazy Lizz! I will try to take pictures tonight.

On the other hand I was checking the new McCall's Pattern Collection and this is what I think I may buy for my pattern collection. I am pregnant so I won't be able to wear most of them this summer.

I guess it is getting hard for me to leave the leggings trend.

This dress looks pretty easy to make. Hope so!

This is a nice flirty skirt. I think it shall be easy to sew too.

I have seen this before. Let me guess, more 80's inspired fashion?

Since I am now into making handbags too, I think this will be a good one to add to my collection.

The weirdest patterns

I like Vogue Patterns, but this ones from the new collection are kind of weird. Don't you think?

Butterick B5203 work in progress

I am working on a white top using Butterick B5203 See & Sew pattern. I chose to do View B because I like how the long sleeves top looks. I am almost finish. I am giving the final touch to the hems and it is looking very nice. This is not a maternity pattern, but the top looks like a maternity top from my point of view. What do you think?

Here I am at Occoquan

So I wore my outfit today. I am sorry if the picture does not shows all the details. I usually post pictures of my outfits while they are on my dress form. This time it is me wearing it! :)

I used Simplicity pattern 5756 which was very easy. I mean really easy! For the pants I used a bottom weight linen material in a lavender color that I purchased at Joann Fabrics. For the top I used a floral silk fabric from the same store. I usually buy my fabrics from Joann because it is only like 6 miles from my house.

I highly recommend using this pattern (if you are pregnant). The pants are very easy to sew and are more comfortable to wear than all the other pants I have from Motherhood. I bought a black linen fabric to make me another pair.

Simplicity Pattern 5756

I just finished sewing a complete outfit using this pattern. This was an easy project to sew. I did view D and pants E. In fact I will try to make more tops and pants by using this pattern.

No pictures? I will wear my new maternity outfit next Sunday to church and promise to take some pictures.

Another one of my fashion predictions. Check this out!

I received some magazines and catalogs today and I also noticed at some websites that jumpsuits are not the only trend from the 80's coming back for this spring and summer.

Bodysuits are coming strong this year. I loved to wear bodysuits back in 1993-1994 because they are so flattering. This picture is from Chadwicks. Also Sharon posted a related pattern on her website Patternaholic.

Caftans are also a strong trend for this summer. This one is from Michael Kors 2009 collection.

I guess that I will go for the caftan trend instead of the bodysuit because the second choice would look very strange on my pregnant belly. :P

Purple Handbag

As you can see I just finished the purple handbag a friend requested from me. She sent me the fabric which is one of those fabrics with an Asian look. I think the fabric is gorgeous and since she lives in Florida she may use it all year long. I also made her some custom jewelry. To make this handbag I used Simplicity Pattern 4117.

These bracelets are elastic.

I purchased the beads at Michael's.

Thanks Sharon!

I have been nominated to an award by Sharon. Sharon has two of my favorite blogs. She is really a source of inspiration. Visit Adventures from the Sewing Studio and Patternaholic. If you are really into sewing and are looking for someone who really knows about fashion you will love this two blogs.

McCall's 5578

Finally I finished a dress using a McCall's pattern and even thought it is not "perfect" I think I like the result and I am planning on buying another fabric to use this same pattern again (Remember I have been unhappy by the results using McCall's lately). The only problem I had, but it was totally my fault was on the pleats. First, let me tell you that this pattern calls for gathering no pleats but I chose to make pleats which turn OK but not perfect. Next time I will just gather it. I also wanted to announce that I am expecting twins and for now on most of my projects will be maternity clothes and baby clothes.

I used Pattern 5578 View C. I think next time I will do View A.

This is the front. I also had to add a lining because the fabric was almost see thru.

This is the back of the dress. I am still not so advance when it comes to making button holes. My machine "does it by itself, but I still need to manage it". I think they are pretty good anyways.

Today I will start sewing a handbag for a friend. She sent me the fabric which I think is so beautiful. I think it will turn out great! I did one for another friend as a Christmas present.

McCall's new summer patterns

This year I may sew some of these McCall's patterns. I am very happy to see that the "Easy" options are really nice because usually I find to be hideous. Here are some of my possible choices.

I am definetely sewing this. What can I say about this "fashion trend"... I just knew it will be there this year!

This is another trend that is comming strong. Caftans anyone?

This tops look so cute! I hope I will be more lucky with the results of this Hillary Duff pattern
this time.

Looks fresh for the summer.

This dress reminds of my roots.

This looks very cute too!

Love this one!
